July 28, 2010

Dear Cougar Band Family,

Band Camp is no upon us! Next week is just around the corner. I hope you all had a great summer doing whatever it is you wanted to do. Now it is time to get back to it! Remember our schedule is as follows:

August 2-6 (Monday-Friday) – 9:00am-6:00pm
August 9-12 (Monday-Thursday) – 9:00am-6:00pm
August 13 (Friday) – 1:00pm-9:00pm – This is our friends and family Premier Performance Show. We will have BBQ Dinner at 5:00pm and then we will do our Performance at 7:00pm (with a warm-up at 6:00pm).

Lunches during Band Camp are provided for you for free, except for Friday August 13th. They are however school lunches. If you would rather you can just bring your own lunch. We will not however have access to a refrigerator or microwave. You will also not be permitted to leave campus during the day.

There will be breakfast snacks available to you in the East Campus Cafeteria in the morning 8:00am-9:00am. That is also free. If you forget to eat breakfast or just want to get the free food, either way, it is here for you. Take advantage of it!!

We will start the first day of band camp in the Performing Arts Center on the main campus with a meeting, and then we will move everything over to the East Freshmen campus. We will have all of band camp over there. The school is under serious construction now and looks like a war zone! We will have little to no access to the main band room areas.

If you have not been outside at all during this summer… um… well, it is hot. Really Hot. Ridiculously HOT! Plan accordingly for that part of the day. We may also be doing some adjustments to the schedule to make more, shorter blocks outside rather than one big long morning block. Heat index today is 106! Just be ready! I look forward to a GREAT Band Camp. See you on Monday!

Easy General Band Fundraising Opportunity

We are collecting used inkjet printer cartridges, laser toner cases and old cell phones. There are drop boxes on the West Campus in the Band Room, Uniform Room and the Band Office. You can also give them to any band parent available in the band room. This is a great way for the band to receive easy money, so let's all do our part!
