Future Members

Being a member of the University Band is one of the most enriching, memorable, and worthwhile experiences you will ever have. You will grow personally and emotionally, develop your artistic and athletic abilities, and forge lifelong friendships. If you are interested in becoming a member of the University Band, welcome!

Why Band?

  • It's good for your brain: The neurological benefits of arts education are well documented.
  • It's good for your grades: Students in the performing arts perform higher on average on their SATs and GPAs than their peers. Arts education increases test scores across every subject area, increases graduation rates, and helps close the achievement gap, regardless of socio-economic status.
  • It's good for your future: Colleges are looking for well-rounded students who not only have good grades, but are involved in activities that require commitment and dedication... like the arts!
  • It's good for your soul: The performing arts are a natural form of human expression, and are worth pursuing for their own sake (even if it weren't for all the other benefits.)
  • Performing ensembles develop social skills and forge strong interpersonal relationships as students learn to work together selflessly to achieve a common goal.
