Baroque Dance Suite

Extremely popular in the courts of eighteenth century Europe was the dance suite. A dance suite is a collection of several different movements, each with its own unique character. Just like today, a number of standard types of dance were widely known, which can be identified by their meter and tempo. All the different types of dance share the main features of the Baroque Period: homophonic texture and extensive ornamentation.
