Jazz Rock, also called Fusion, combines improvisation and jazz theory with the rhythmic and formal features of Rock & Roll. The introduction of fully electric instruments called synthesizers created new sounds never before heard.
Important Fusion artists include Pat Metheny, Maynard Ferguson, and Joe Zawinul.
