The award-winning University Color Guard is an exciting performance opportunity for any student. Under the aegis of the University Band, color guard members perform a unique form of dance combining contemporary styles with traditional drills across the State of Florida in a variety of venues.
From summer to fall, the Color Guard performs as one of the most important sections of the University Marching Band, providing an essential visual element to our performances at football games, Florida Bandmasters' Association (FBA), Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC), and Bands of America (BOA) events. The Marching Guard is open to any student at University High School with no experience or audition required.
We offer four levels of Eurhythmics as a class during the school day, where students will learn the fundamentals of show design, choreography, and analysis, with plenty of opportunities for practice and performance.
The Winter Guard is an elite team of performers who compete during the spring semester with the Florida Federation of Color Guards Circuit (FFCC) and Winter Guard International (WGI). A regular medalist at state championship events, this ensemble is by audition only, with try-outs taking place at the conclusion of marching band season in November.
