The University High School Performing Arts Magnet immerses students in a more intense level of artistry as performers. Students enroll in one of four tracks to focus and refine their primary area of performance. Within each track, specialty courses like music theory, technical theater, and dance techniques allow students to explore their craft in greater depth, while performance opportunities abound at every level from solo recitals to award-winning ensembles. Students are also held to the highest academic and personal standards through advanced core classes and training in professionalism, teamwork, and leadership.
Students accepted to the Performing Arts Magnet can be a part of the incredible depth of musical opportunities offered at University High School, even if they are zoned for a different Orange County school.
Students in the Performing Arts Magnet select one of four tracks:
- The Vocal Track is for singers who will be joining one of our outstanding choral ensembles.
- The Theatrical Track is for performers who wish to focus on our drama program.
- The Instrumental Track includes our award-winning Band, Orchestra, Piano, and Guitar programs.
- The Dance Track features both modern and traditional dance styles and techniques.
Performing Arts Magnet students are eligible for two performing ensembles each year, as well as a third elective to go deeper, focusing on music theory, stagecraft, musical theater, and more.
